Kiti
Whales

avtor osebno, ane, mali Čmrlj?, in to s posvetilom. Juhej!

We love storybooks, even more if it is handed to you by the author
personally, right, little Bumblebee?, and with an inscription. Yay!
(It is absolutely necessary to come to get the Whales swim slowly in the whales-socks, whatelse!)

Adijo, zima! Pozdravljena, sladka pomlad!
Goodbye, Winter! Hello, sweet Spring!

Obe novi zame. Obe že na oko "tapravi".

Obviously, winter is finally saying goodbye now. I met a pair of orphant caps on a fence the other day. :)

On Wednesday, I got two chocolates as a gift, first from Miro and second from my sister.
Both new to me. Both my cup of tea at first sight.

Najin dan
Our day

Najin dan sva začela, no, jaz, hihi, s kakijevim musom in skuto,
domače in mmm kako dobro! [Stan]
We started our day, well, I did, hihi, with kaki mousse and cottage cheese,
homemade and mmm so good! [Stan]

It continued with a walk, whatelse, after all these foggy days.

Gospa Zajklja in gospod Pes sta se vsa sveža in dišeča nastavila soncu.
Mrs Rabbit and Mr Dog were all fresh and aromatic sunbathing.

Ob sončnem zahodu je zaigralo srce.
The sunset was music for our hearts.

V večerno lučkasti Ljubljani pa sta si prav nič kaj sramežljivo
na uho šepetala Julija in France. [Polonapolona]
In the middle of evening festive lights in Ljubljana,
our greatest poet France and his muse Julija were shamelessly whispering to each other. [Polonapolona]

Recept, ki vsebuje nečedno dejanje
A recipe that includes an immoral act

The other day I prepared myself such a good breakfast I must share the recipe with you, even though it includes one immoral act. :)

Here it goes: I stole my mum’s hemp-flour pancakes that had left from previous day, spread a thick layer of a Greek yoghurt on and sprinkled it with the most delicious roasted pumpkin seeds, our national delicacy, delivered to us directly from the land of pumpkins :) for the New Year’s present, which I have always liked so much, but this roasted ones … mmm … I sprinkle them on almost everything I eat since.

So the next morning, when the pancakes were gone, I sprinkled them together with chopped rucola on slices of buckwheat and walnut bread with a kaymak spread on. All you need more is just a glass of the best kefir and dober tek, bon appetite!

11.12.13

Nekaj zame. :)

We have such nice date-number tuday and mmm, these Linzers cookies that are made of
buckwheat for a change are something completely different! Something for me. :)

Pozdravljen, nov teden!
Hello, new week!

Turška kava, taka ta prava, za dedka! :)

Turkish coffee for my grandpa. :)

It looks so great when you get it served like this! It is a tradition here in Slovenia to make coffee this way also at home, although in a much simpler džezvas and without all that ... am ... coffee-accessories. :) But in certain Balkan style cafés and restaurants you get it in such lovely ones.

We usually call it črna kava [=black coffee]. I believe there is a single home in Slovenia without džezva. :) It seems as it is already a part of our national tradition, of that sort – a good imported one. This good habit is something we adopted from Bosnia while we both belonged to the same country. It is always easy to adopt good things and stir it into national habits, like a sugar cube melts in the aromatic black cup. I have heard people from other countries being impressed by the way we prepare črna kava at homes.

Miro and me, we are not regular coffee drinkers, just occasional, but we have said that we will buy one of these Bosnian style copper sets one day anyway. That when we will drink coffee, we will drink it in style. :)

Oh yes, and Miro loves this song; actually, me too! :)

September je
It's September

My mum made this raw cake for her nephew.
I admit, I wanted it was my birthday, even though it would mean one year more. :)

Polona izdeluje take posrečene šalčke in končno sem eno kupila.
Polona makes such cute cups with witty characters and I finally bought one. Not (yet) for me, but for the same cousin who then generously shared the cake from above with his guests..
Even though her Mr Darcy [one of the featured characters on her cups] is undoubtedly very attractive,
I would want even more Slovenian appearances, of course, our country is full of special cases, heh.
[this one here features our most famous poet France Prešeren]

September je ... September.
September is ... September. [by Slovenian group Melodrom.] And it smells so good, even more than spring!

Zarota namesto zaroke
Conspiracy instead of an engagement

Here in Slovenia there is a funny word for someone who is in a relationship, but not married, koruznik. It derives from koruza [=corn], like: couple living in a corn or something like that.

This is what we’ve said: if we are getting married after like hundred years of corn-hood :), than this was not us, unless we had figured out something funny and naughty. I believe nothing less would have been expected from us.

It was all born only in the beginning of this summer, spontaneously, on one beautiful day in the forest and right away it became a conspiracy with lots of sparkles in the eyes. Everything was planned fiery, in top secret and, in spite of a very short time period and thanks to the fact that our wish was to keep everything simple, according to our hearts, was successfully led to the point when we finally dropped the bomb sent invitations (you know that one: strike in the moment when nobody expects anymore) to our beloved ones and the very next day, before postmen started marching around, escaped to the Czech Republic, “just” on a trip, like people assumed, but the truth was we went there to get our rings, this two beauties, (this is where we were given the two lucky pits) and left a huge tornado behind us, hoping to lay down a little before we return. :)

Sladka pomladna naključja
Sweet coincidences of spring

Od kod navdih, izveste, če (posamezno) kliknete na spodnji sliki;

I smiled (and sweetened!) after seeing my mum made two desserts this weekend, both from my two favourite cooking blogs!, both Slovenian, but one of them is also in English.

I unmasked one by myself, because I saw the recipe in the newspaper earlier that morning and for the other one I asked her how it was made and she replied: but you’ve sent me the recipe yourself!

Yes, it is true, I often sent her posts from the two blogs, but since she modified also this recipe a bit or a bit more and since the cake was raw and looked just like she usually does them, too, I didn’t suspect there is was connection.

You can find out where the inspiration is from, if you (separately) click the pictures bellow:

"I have a cunning plan"

A niso nori dialogi! :)

Tako sem si torej od sestre izposodila celotno zbirko Černega gada, pripravila sva si tortilje čips, Miro je zamešal slastno pomako za zraven in odprl še eno steklenico svojega piva. Vse je bilo pripravljeno in izgledalo popolno in komaj sem že čakala, da po kar predolgem času spet vidim tiste za crknit smešne pojave.

Ampak! Eh...

(preostali dve sliki sta nastali na dedkovem vrtu)

Yes, Miro and I had a cunning plan how to trick these rainy days.

We have been planning to have a Black Adder tv-marathon this weekend.
If I had to choose, this would be my most favourite humoristic series ever. Look at this, this, this and this scene. How can you not just love these crazy dialogues! :)

So, I’ve borrowed the whole collection of The Black Adder from my sister and last evening we prepared ourselves tortilla chips, Miro made a delicious dip and opened one more bottle of his beer. Everything was prepared and looked perfect and I was so eagerly waiting to see those drop-dead-funny characters after a quite too long time again.

But! (yes, there is a BUT) Our dvd player somehow didn’t want to play it. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was. Eh...

(the rest two pictures are taken in my grandpa's garden)

Tri zabavne
Amusing three

slika 1:
Ljubiteljsko kratkočasno gledališče v najinem bodočem domu.

slika 2:

picture 1:
Amusing little theatre in our future home.

picture 2:
I don’t know where Domaćica has been hiding all these past years that I've forgot about it, but lately I see it everywhere in the most strategic parts of the markets, so the old childhood love has been reborn.
I remember so vividly how my friend and I, when we were in our early teenage years, had wanted these simple yet delicious Croatian brand cookies so desperately one day, that we persuaded our parents to give us money for it, went to a market in the worse storm, then sat down on the stairs in front of the house and destroyed it in a moment. Even today we still laugh while remembering.
Well, the tradition continues, obviously, after many years, with a tiny difference – a box seems smaller to me now. :)

picture 3:
Zoja being unhappy with the fact that she's not allowed into that water after she, little dummy, fearlessly jumped into it not thinking ahead how to climb out without our help. In spite of that adrenaline experience she was crying so heartbreakingly, asking us to change our minds and let her in and barking at the sounds of water and all the rocks under water, so that Miro couldn’t resist making a little movie. :)

Dež
Rain

Dan, napolnjen z energijo. Veliko dobre glasbe in pisanje današnje dolge in poglobljene (!) objave
ob pokušanju novega okusa iz dolge vrste mojih priljubljenih čajev. :)

Feeling very energetic today. Lots of good music and writing today’s long and in-depth (!) post
while tasting new flavour from the long line of one of my favourite teas. :)

Obupna frizura
Terrible haircut

It’s a grey and dull day, but I’m happy, because we were pleasantly surprised by an early arrival of our calendars yesterday. What a joy it is every year when I finally see them in printed version!
[of course, I won’t conclude the giveaway game yet because of this. It’s still on until Sunday, as written]

Snow has been predicted for the weekend and I really can’t wait for it. Each year again and again I feel like Maruška Potepuška (=Maruška the Vagabond) a wandering little girl in the children picture book, which was my favourite, as I have been told. I wish to see it again, but I have no idea where it is now, probably lost.

Miro and I made this funny little guy with a terrible haircut yesterday. :) It was for my dad, a raw foodist, so we made it out from fruit and vegetables.

Zbiralka verzov narave
Nature-verses collector

[vse slike / all images: GOLLY BARD]

I’m sure that Holly is a poet! Her illustrations are like juxtaposing words. Words soft as feathers and black letters sharp as a claw, with a touch of ephemerality.

I like her colour palette and filigree processed details. Images of nature seem like lace and those birds, bugs, mosquitoes, flies and other insects look like the most beautiful museum collection, compartmentalised into an eternal circle and sorted into morbid-fresh patterns.

Altogether floats in a free whiteness, it feeds with a mystery of life and it nests in the essence itself.

You don’t need a key to view Golly Bard’s collection.

Nakvačkani trenutki
Crocheted moments

[vse slike / all images: SANDRA JUTO]

Looking at one of Sandra’s favourite photos, the one with an onion, I’m thinking about my entering into her e-home, because it was just like that – gradual. It was slow in the best sense of the word. I’ve been discovering her world layer after layer, until I realized I was crocheted into it. :)

I like to join her wanderings across streets of Berlin or I smile at those cute characters, a work of her hands, that climb all over her apartment and don’t leave her alone even when drinking coffee.

A story of its own is her fingerless gloves, Wrist Worms, as she calls them. There are threads of everyday life weaved in them, all those little moments that she keeps generously sharing with us in words and pictures in journey-like style.

Look, behind this door there’s Sandra Juto’s warm home!
