OdgovoriIzbrišiThe "Jesus Only Doctrine" states that there is only one person in the Godhead, that being Jesus Christ. One of the tenets derived from this doctrine is that when baptizing you must use the formula, (citing Acts 2:38), in the name of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, used here, simply means by the authority of Jesus; just as stop in the name of the law, means by the authority of the police.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Jesus had the authority, and it was given to Him by the Father. Jesus did not give the authority to Himself.
Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
I do not believe the apostle Peter ignored the directive of Jesus and baptized in the name of Jesus only.
WAS JESUS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE GODHEAD?
There is God the Father: 1 Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.
There is God the Son: Hebrews 1:8 But of the Son He says "Your throne , O God, is forever and ever, and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
There is God the Holy Spirit: Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? 4 ......You have not lied to men but to God."
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all called God. This God is manifest in three persons.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, ""Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness...
Us and Our are not synonyms for "Jesus Only."
Matthew 3:17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."
Is Jesus in heaven talking about Himself. Is Jesus His own Father? No, He is not!
Matthew 24:36-37 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 For the coming of the Son of man will be just like the days of Noah.
If Jesus is God the Father, and Jesus Only is God, how would it be possible that He would not tell Himself when He was coming again? Only the Father knows when Jesus will return!
1 Corinthians 24-28 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 27 For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. Bur when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. 28 When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.
If God is JESUS ONLY, will He be putting Himself into subjection to Himself?
THERE IS GOD THE FATHER.
THERE IS GOD THE SON.
THERE IS GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT.
There are three persons in the Godhead. They are the ONE GOD.
THERE IS NOT GOD "JESUS ONLY."
