Praznična pogajanja
Festive negotiations

Yesterday there was a minor misunderstanding and just before my date with girls, I was unexpectedly left without the photo camera.

But later I got images of magic festive time in the centre of our capital in return. It was captured by Miro, who – at this opportunity – also threatened me that he’s going to confiscate the camera more often in the upcoming year. Negotiations to follow. :) But what also follows is our common visit of the festive fair, with kuhanec (=mulled wine) of course, in the future days, hopefully with some snow already.

On Ljubljana tourist site you can see some more photos of city's magic festive decorations.

[above is my selection of Miro's photos]

MM koledar dobi...
MM calendar goes to...

Sonja in Špela, čestitke in, prosim, e-sporočita mi svoja naslova,

The giveaway is over. The draw wasn’t even closely as spectacular as the previous time :)
when I had a little assistant, supervisor, but this time I surprised
the participants with a bonus winner. Congratulations, Sonja and Špela!

Dež
Rain

Dan, napolnjen z energijo. Veliko dobre glasbe in pisanje današnje dolge in poglobljene (!) objave
ob pokušanju novega okusa iz dolge vrste mojih priljubljenih čajev. :)

Feeling very energetic today. Lots of good music and writing today’s long and in-depth (!) post
while tasting new flavour from the long line of one of my favourite teas. :)

Obupna frizura
Terrible haircut

It’s a grey and dull day, but I’m happy, because we were pleasantly surprised by an early arrival of our calendars yesterday. What a joy it is every year when I finally see them in printed version!
[of course, I won’t conclude the giveaway game yet because of this. It’s still on until Sunday, as written]

Snow has been predicted for the weekend and I really can’t wait for it. Each year again and again I feel like Maruška Potepuška (=Maruška the Vagabond) a wandering little girl in the children picture book, which was my favourite, as I have been told. I wish to see it again, but I have no idea where it is now, probably lost.

Miro and I made this funny little guy with a terrible haircut yesterday. :) It was for my dad, a raw foodist, so we made it out from fruit and vegetables.

Niso samo lučke, zvezdice in barve
Not just lights, stars and colours

Govorim o sovraštvu do vsega tujega.

Do tujih kultur, do drugače spolno usmerjenih, do drugače verujočih in še kaj.

Jezika in korenin.

As much as I like December, so so much, but it's also the time when everything that is rotten in my country comes much more to term.

I’m talking about a hatred of everything that is foreign. I’m also talking about rejection of everybody that is different, about non-solidarity, non-understanding and non-acceptance of those that are not shaped by the mould. (and by the way, in a world like it is nowadays, I think it’s the most valuable feature just this - that you’re not moulded like so many others)

Yes, if I had to describe us, Slovenes, as one character, I would say that we are very intolerant. Towards other cultures, towards different sexual orientations, towards different religions and so on.

I think it’s because of lack of self-confidence, namely, we reject everything that is foreign, meanwhile – so ironically – we’re handling with our own language and cultural heritage so bad, that it hurts and at the same time we think high about everything that comes from abroad, but we are ashamed of ours. Of our language and our roots.

I don’t know, whether I’m more sad or more worried…

Hja, this post is like it is. Life is not made just of little flowers, stars, lights, colours and laughter. But it’s nice to know there are, despite all. Lights, stars and colours… and many people that shine, reach for the stars and are happy about all colours.

Mmmm... 12

trenutnem navdihu :) - kisla smetana, majoneza, kapre, kurkuma, origano in česen]

Takó, here is Sunday and here is a typical Slovenian Sunday lunch,
potato purée, sauerkraut and sausage, cooked and decorated by Miro. :)
[the sauce is of course a modern addition and it is made, as usual, by his
current inspiration :) - sour cream, mayonnaise, capers, curcuma, oregano and garlic]

Ko se srečata poletje in zima
When summer and winter meet

in lopatanje.

As strange as it sounds but my favourite "construction" tasks are, leaving aside a dust,
sweeping (especially with that big red scavenger broom here, that really is effective!)
and shovelling. You can see it by my speed in the last photo, where Miro hardly "caught" me! :)

To be everything at least a little romantic and to encourage ourselves a bit, sometimes
we had lighted some candles at winter evenings when we were finishing with work.

[pictures are put together without an order and are mostly from that hard beginning-period,
when there was a destructivism still dominating over the construction]

Kamboški večer
Cambodian evening

in lovili sapo še ob njihovem znamenitem (in začinjenem!) amoku [slika 3],
je navihano smejoč se rekla:
takó, pa sem vam pričarala pravo Kambodžo! :)

My sister prepared us a wonderful Cambodian evening with lots of interesting travelling impressions.
And when she burned us up with their famous (and spicy!) amok [picture 3]
which made us catching our breaths in already warm atmosphere,
she said to us with a naughty smile:
takó, here you have a real Cambodia feeling! :)
