Pomladne snežne plohe
Spring snowstorms

There were few snowstorms in the garden these days, where I am cleaning the old parquet tiles. :)

Dobro je ...
It is good ...

:)

It is good to have a husband, who, if necessary and in spite the fact that he is not a parquet layer, can lay down
the tiles and, if necessary and in spite the fact that he is not a cook, can bake prekmurska gibanica.
Me happy! :)

By the way, I just remembered this joke:
Do you know the difference between baker and parquet?
While the first must get up early, the second can still lay down for a while.

Sobotne delavske prigode
Saturday's renovation anecdotes

Pogled navzdol na trto z balkona najinega nastajajočega doma.
Looking down to the vine from the balcony of our future home.

En ubog star radio imava nastavljen na neko nevemkaterože postajo, kjer v večini vrtijo vedno ene in iste komercialne komade, ki nama gledajo že iz ušes; ravno zato, ker takrat, še posebej, ko nastopi kriza, rabiva prav to, da se malo ponorčujeva, obnašava bebasto in občasno noriva ob motivacijskih krikih.
We have set this poor old radio to one station where they mostly play the same commercial songs again and again that we are already fed of them, but this is exactly what we need, especially in a time of crisis, because we can make fun of it, act stupid and do some crazy dance with occasional motivation screams.

Odkar sva kupila tistega rumenca, sta modri in rdeči kar naenkrat vedno in povsod čudežno pri roki.
Ever since we bought that yellow guy the blue and the red one are suddenly always at your hand when needed.

Our little inviting camping table with malica [I can’t find an appropriate word in English, it’s a meal between the main ones, like a snack, but it is more than snack; a very useful word indeed! :)].
Oh, right, Miro promised to buy me for every 50, or did he say 30?, yes, I believe he did say that for every 30 cleaned and sanded parquet tiles he will buy me that njami delicious rice milk with cocoa. With every tile, with every box, with every day going by I think I’ve made a bad, a terribly bad negotiation deal, hm …

Lani je Miro v drugi sobi parket polagal prvič, ...
Last year Miro laid the tiles in another room for the first time ...

… and now he is an expert. This four rows were made in a blink of an eye and I’m getting worried how to follow him by cleaning them so quickly.

(here you can see that the parquet had much prettier pattern before, but because it was damaged in some places and because we changed the floor plan we had no other option but to throw it all out; and here you can see how much more work we have given to ourselves by doing it)

This is how Miro takes care we don’t get bored and stay focused on working. :)

A mixture of this weekend

Lepo!

When Miro and I are working on our new home we are always in search for our pencils, those oval construction ones, red and blue, so this time we bought a few yellow ones which fluorescently radiate already from a distance “I’m here, I’m here!” :)

My mum made a delicious Sunday lunch; rolled dumplings filled with pumpkin puree inspired by a popular tv show currently in Slovenia, that mixes our traditional cuisine with some new ideas. She served them on buckwheat porridge with mushrooms, also a popular traditional dish in Slovenia, usually made with boletus or chanterelles.

Oh, and we woke up in a snowy morning today and it is still snowing from time to time, also as I write this!

Na deževno soboto
On a rainy Saturday

A home-construction detail, a look from a window and delicious štrudelj, made by Miro’s mum.
(I wanted to eat the three blueberry ones all by myself, but Miro somehow didn’t like my plan, so I negotiated out two heavenly delicious blueberry pieces and one, also good, with cottage cheese. :)

Tri zabavne
Amusing three

slika 1:
Ljubiteljsko kratkočasno gledališče v najinem bodočem domu.

slika 2:

picture 1:
Amusing little theatre in our future home.

picture 2:
I don’t know where Domaćica has been hiding all these past years that I've forgot about it, but lately I see it everywhere in the most strategic parts of the markets, so the old childhood love has been reborn.
I remember so vividly how my friend and I, when we were in our early teenage years, had wanted these simple yet delicious Croatian brand cookies so desperately one day, that we persuaded our parents to give us money for it, went to a market in the worse storm, then sat down on the stairs in front of the house and destroyed it in a moment. Even today we still laugh while remembering.
Well, the tradition continues, obviously, after many years, with a tiny difference – a box seems smaller to me now. :)

picture 3:
Zoja being unhappy with the fact that she's not allowed into that water after she, little dummy, fearlessly jumped into it not thinking ahead how to climb out without our help. In spite of that adrenaline experience she was crying so heartbreakingly, asking us to change our minds and let her in and barking at the sounds of water and all the rocks under water, so that Miro couldn’t resist making a little movie. :)

Zid ljubezni
Wall of love

It was a really strange feeling when a wall grew up between us this weekend.

When we started building up our future home we already decided without any hesitation that we’ll half that room to have two separate working places, but now, after so much time when it actually came to realisation it grew to my heart, that spacious room, especially with that gorgeous afternoon light coming in from two sides, so I said to Miro a few times lately that I’ll miss it and that it’s still time to change our minds and leave it as it is.

But of course I aware that our decision about the dividing had a big point back then. It was all about practical reasons, especially because we’ve been squeezing like sardines in a can in our current working place for a long time now and because my glass colours need their own atelje with own doors to be shut when needed, as they aren’t very pleasant to live with at applying and drying.

After all there’s a piece of lone wolf in both of us and I’ve always felt that every person needs his own window and that the basic cell of society isn’t a family, but a person that can connect to others to create something beautiful and healthy only after being a whole unit for himself first.

So there it was, when we finally began putting bricks together and we stood one at each side of the wall, now already high enough just hardly to see each other over it, there was nothing but black humour in the air. We were mentioning Berlin, iron curtain and cooling down of relationships :) and when I asked Miro, if he’ll ever come to my side, the wall would have blushed and melted down, if only it had heard and understood his answer.

Zgodovina bodočega doma 5
Future home history 5

To leseno pručko na zadnjem posnetku sta mi za 3. rojstni dan poklonila stara starša.
Na stranicah so komaj še vidni dedkovi vedno zabavni napisi.

temu primerno zaprašena in utrujena. Ko bo odslužila svoje, jo nameravam obnoviti.

[posnetki so nametani brez nekega reda in so v večini iz težkega začetnega, še razdiralnega obdobja]

This small wooden stool in the last picture was a gift from my grandparents for my 3rd birthday.
On its sides there can still be slightly seen grandpa’s always fun painted words.

It has survived everything possible and is now employed in our future home, therefore dusted
and tired of course. Once it serves out its current purpose, I’m going to renovate it.

when there was a destructivism still dominating over the construction]

Zgodovina bodočega doma 4
Future home history 4

in lopatanje.

As strange as it sounds but my favourite "construction" tasks are, leaving aside a dust,
sweeping (especially with that big red scavenger broom here, that really is effective!)
and shovelling. You can see it by my speed in the last photo, where Miro hardly "caught" me! :)

To be everything at least a little romantic and to encourage ourselves a bit, sometimes
we had lighted some candles at winter evenings when we were finishing with work.
