Kako fino smo v Sloveniji posvojili vse to! :)
Maybe it’s not a čevapčiči season yet, but we had them anyway this weekend! :)
It’s a Balkan dish made of grilled minced meat rolls and originates in Bosnia (from the times of Ottoman/Turkish expansion) and it’s usually served with ajvar and onion.
Some Balkan dishes are also my favourite in general and are all very popular here in Slovenia, like prebranec (the baked version of pasulj, which is also good), sarme, baklava and šobska solata, which we also had beside čevapčiči. We had adopted all these dishes while we shared the common country with some of the Balkan nations in previous century.
I love the culinary contributions of all cultures that surround us, including the Balkan part. Whoever visited those beautiful countries of ex-Yugoslavia or whoever knows people from there also knows it’s a special piece of Europe with so much life and spice putted in everything there is.
[I’ve already said once before that I’ll do a post about how wonderful little piece of world we live in, surrounded with so much beauty and diversity. That’s still on.]
Kakorkoli, we had delicious Serbian čevapčiči this time, called leskovački, in Rio-Momo gostilna in Ljubljana.
