Zaljubljeno Gregorjevo vsem!
On the Eve of Gregorjevo [=St. Gregory’s Day] children across Slovenia place their homemade little candle boats on the water. This tradition derives from old times when craftsmen celebrated spring and longer days, saying goodbye to working by the candlelight.
Nice tradition and one of the most beautiful ethnological events for me. Despite of a sunken ship or two and more than one fire on board in Ljubljana yesterday, I saw so many sparkles in children’s eyes and (I won’t lie) also in the eyes of adults, that I really felt the warmth of upcoming spring.
I wish you all Gregorjevo full of love!
Zelo lepo!
OdgovoriIzbrišiAn extremely beautiful and inspirational feast!! Thanks for sharing, otherwise I wouldn't know...

OdgovoriIzbrišiTudi jaz sem si že nekaj let želela to ogledat (prav tu, na Gradaščici, drugače sem že videla to spuščanje barčic kje drugje) in končno mi je uspelo. V živo je res še veliko lepše, kjerkoli.

It really is beautiful! You can't see in the pictures very good, but those boats were real masterpieces, all of them, but some of them were... wow!
I think you would especially like the feast, since you're a Spring girl! :)
