This year’s March really is sušec.

(Sušec is an ancient Slovenian name for marec, March. It derives from the word suh [=dry] or suša [=drought].)

I imagine the name has been given to the month because it is the time when soil is dry enough for field working after wintertime, but this year one might think that it is so because of complete lack of rain, namely, I can’t remember the last time we had rain. Not good!

  1. It's the same here... At last sun, but no rain!
Hmmm, just to continue our last "conversation" about the similarities between our two languages... Our word for "drought" is "суша" - pronounced ['susha].:)))

  3. Rossichka, thanks to you I'm renewing my knowledge of cyrilic alphabet. We had to learn Serbian one year in primary school. :)
